Meet Steele, a breathtakingly handsome silver chocolate Labrador with a big, goofy personality and an even bigger heart.   He is AKC registered with paperwork.  Steele was surrendered due to personal circumstances, this affectionate boy is now searching for a loving forever home.

Steele is a true cuddle bug—whether it’s resting his head on your lap or leaning in for a full-body hug, he soaks up all the love he can get. He knows the “kennel” command and does well in his crate when his foster mom is away. However, since he’s on a crate-and-rotate schedule with another dog, he sometimes experiences a little FOMO (fear of missing out) and isn’t shy about vocalizing his frustration. While he doesn’t try to escape, he’s quite expressive!

This strong and athletic boy is fully potty trained and working on leash manners—he’s a bit of a puller on walks but makes an excellent running partner, staying right by your side. He does have some resource guarding tendencies, so his future family should be mindful of that. Unlike typical retrievers, Steele isn’t too interested in fetching, but he more than makes up for it with his affectionate and loyal nature.

In his foster home, Steele gets along well with most dogs, from tiny pups to large breeds. However, he doesn’t do well with dominant or pushy dogs, especially large males, and will stand his ground if challenged. However this is easily handled with a human's presence and/or correction.  He is currently great friends with the puppy foster Scoobie in the home.  He puts up with all her puppy craziness like a great big brother.  With the right canine companion—or as the only dog in the home—he will truly shine.

Since Steele is capable of jumping a 4’ fence, a taller secure fence is a must to keep him safe. With structure, training, and the right environment, Steele is sure to become a loyal, loving companion. He’s a big-hearted boy who just needs a little guidance to reach his full potential—could you be the one to give him his forever home?
