Meet Merica — the all-American sweetheart with a heart of gold!

This river-wandering cutie showed up out of nowhere and beelined for one of our volunteers while they were helping another pup in need. It’s like she has a sixth sense for finding good people.

No one has stepped forward to claim her, so now it’s Merica’s turn to find her own happily-ever-after. She’s young, affectionate, and completely deaf—but don’t worry, she hears with her heart. She walks beautifully on a leash and would love to have a canine buddy to help guide her.

Despite being deaf, Merica’s resilience and eagerness to learn are truly inspiring. Our team is working wonders with her, teaching hand signals that she’s picking up in no time! She’s already winning over friends in playcare and is doing wonderfully in her foster home. She’s great in the crate, keeps her foster brother happily tired, loves walks and car rides, and is quickly learning the daily routine. With a gentle morning wake-up call—just a soft brush on her back feet—Merica is ready to take on the world.
