Matilda
Matilda is doing so well on her new diet! She’s lost weight, is active again, and her tail hardly stops wagging. Honestly, she looks like a completely different dog. And on top of that, she’s a world-class snuggler.
Matilda is a special girl who just needs the right home. She’s incredibly loyal and protective of her person. That sounds wonderful (and it is), but it does come with some responsibility. She needs someone confident enough to check her and simply tell her to “go lay down” if she starts getting a little guardy. The good news? She listens beautifully.
She does well with dogs and cats. She got way too excited about some foster kittens, so adult cats would be best. Thankfully she’s very respectful of the boundaries cats usually set for dogs.
She can have a little stranger danger at first, but again, a simple “go lay down” and she happily does just that. She currently lives in a busy, loud household and thrives in that environment. We’ve noticed that if she’s with a single person—especially a woman—she becomes overly protective. Because of that, a home with multiple people tends to work much better for her than a quiet home with just one person.
Matilda also loves to chase the ball… but only once. She’ll happily catch it the first time and then spend the rest of the time running alongside her foster brother while he plays traditional fetch. She never drops her ball—she just runs laps with it. When playtime is over, she proudly carries it into the kitchen and drops it so it can be washed for next time.
Our happy-go-lucky girl deserves the wonderful home we know is out there.
