Manuka

Sweet as honey, Manuka is sure to steal your heart! This 65lb house hippo is very laid back and loves to spend her time window watching and laying around on the couch. She is house trained and incredibly quiet, we think she could be a wonderful apartment dog as long as there aren’t too many stairs. She is crate trained but has no issue being left out of her crate when unattended. Manuka will stay in a 4ft fence without issue and is not reactive to any of our neighboring dogs through the fence even if they are reactive towards her. 

Manuka LOVES people and is happy to say “Hi” to anyone she meets! She loves to take field trips around town and rides great in the car! Manuka is incredibly tolerant of handling and allows her foster mom to dress her up in all kinds of costumes! She will lay on her back while you clip and paint her nails, and will stay in the tub during bath time without a hassle (even though she doesn’t particularly enjoy it). 

Manuka is laid back and well mannered 95% of the time but can be stubborn at times and will occasionally test her boundaries. She does well with a strong leader who will gently enforce expectations. Once in a while Manuka can get a little too excited and will mount as an outlet for her energy. A strong “No” and redirecting her onto a toy works well, with consistent correction this behavior is very  easily managed and could likely be completely eliminated with more training.

Manuka has very high prey drive and will need a home with dogs around her same size. Manuka should not be housed with or introduced to cats, small dogs, or other small animals.
