Sweet Khione was rescued from death row at a small-town shelter, where she was kept outdoors in freezing temperatures and sustained several injuries, possibly from frostbite. Fortunately, a kind-hearted foster stepped up and welcomed her into their home. After receiving full veterinary care, Khione has been settling into foster life and experiencing love and comfort for the first time.

Khione (pronounced KEY-OH-NEE) was named after an ancient goddess of ice and snow because her foster mom saved her during an ice storm. Since coming into care, she has been healing and learning what it means to be safe and cherished. She’s adjusting to life as a house dog, mastering new skills, understanding that people can be kind, and realizing she will never go hungry again.

Currently on medical hold, Khione will be ready for adoption in the coming weeks. She would do well as an only dog or in a home with a confident leader. She has shown some barrier aggression and reactivity.  Due to her past experiences, she would thrive in a home without young children. She is working hard to overcome the hardships of her early life and needs a patient, dedicated adopter who will continue her training and desensitization.

In return, Khione promises to be your cuddle buddy, confidant, road trip companion (she loves car rides), and lifelong friend. We are hopeful she will find a loving forever home where she can continue to grow and thrive.

Are you ready to give this resilient survivor the fresh start she deserves?
