James is a striking 9–10-month-old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Found severely malnourished just three months ago, this resilient pup has made an incredible recovery and is now ready to find his forever home.

James is a bundle of energy who loves nothing more than being around his chosen humans. A true working dog at heart, James thrives on attention, mental stimulation, and physical activity. He’s always eager to please, often performing commands like “sit” and “shake” just to keep busy and win your approval!

This playful pup loves chewing on toys, running, and playing with dogs he’s bonded with—his foster sister is his inseparable sidekick (even if she finds him a bit too rambunctious at times). However, James’s protective instincts can lead to resource guarding his humans until he gets to know other dogs better, so slow introductions are key. His dominant personality means he doesn’t always mesh well with other dominant dogs, but with the right companions, he just wants to play and have fun.

James is still learning some puppy manners, like not jumping or mouthing during play, but he’s making great progress. This athletic boy has an impressive vertical and horizontal jump, so he’ll need a yard with tall, secure barriers to keep him safely contained. While he’s getting better with kennel training, James isn’t a fan of being separated from his humans—he’d much rather be by your side.

James is potty trained, intelligent, and has the working-dog mindset that thrives in an active home. He’ll do best with someone who can provide him with plenty of structure, training, and stimulation to keep his sharp mind and energetic body busy.

If you’re looking for a loyal, high-energy pup who will be your best friend and adventure buddy, James is ready to meet you!
