Geno
Meet Geno – The King of Derp!
If "Derp" were a dog breed, Geno would be a champion purebred—and we mean that in the most endearing way! This laid-back boy is the definition of chill and is happiest just hanging out with his people.
Geno’s journey hasn’t been the easiest. I first met him through our community assistance program, where we helped with his vet care. A couple of months later, he was picked up as a stray and taken to a shelter. Despite being chipped, his owners never reclaimed him, and he ended up on the euthanasia list. I couldn’t let that happen, so I brought him into foster care—and I’m so glad I did.
This handsome 2-year-old pit mix is tall, lean, and currently weighs 62 pounds (we’re working on helping him fill out a bit more). Geno is a quick learner who knows basic commands like sit, wait, and kennel up. He’s incredibly food-motivated, which makes training a breeze. On walks, he’s a dream—always keeping a loose leash at my left side. He does have a funny habit of stopping to admire the world now and then, but with a little encouragement, he’s back on track. Geno would make the perfect walking buddy for anyone looking for a calm, steady companion.
Geno has also attended daycare and did well, although he was a bit shy at first. We’ll be testing his compatibility with cats soon, but so far, he’s shown no prey drive, so we’re hopeful he’ll do great.
If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal, goofy companion to join your family, Geno might just be your perfect match. Don’t miss out on this incredible boy—he’s ready to bring his special brand of derpy charm into your life!
