Amaya (I’m only 35 lbs)
When Amaya first arrived at the shelter, she was so scared that she needed to be carried out. But this brave little lady is showing everyone that with patience, love, and a safe place to land, she can truly blossom.
Now in foster care, Amaya is discovering the joys of being a dog — sunbathing in the backyard, exploring outside with her foster family, and learning to be the perfect backyard companion. She’s quickly becoming a loyal little shadow and making sure her foster never has to feel lonely!
Amaya is still building confidence, but her willingness to trust and love despite her fears is truly inspiring. She is doing wonderfully on a leash and proudly showing off her walking skills. Every day brings new progress, and her foster family can already see the amazing dog she is becoming.
Amaya is doing great with the young resident dog in her foster home! She has not met the larger dogs yet, as they seem a little intimidating to her right now, but she is slowly finding her courage and taking things at her own pace.
Amaya has also had wonderful, playful interactions with her foster’s 5-year-old grandchild. Since she is still learning to feel confident, any children in her future home should understand the importance of slow introductions and respecting her boundaries while she continues to build trust.
This small girl has a big personality, a lot of charm, and so much love to give. If you’re looking for a sweet companion who just needs someone willing to help her continue to shine, Amaya may be your perfect match!
