Debbie has been a Beauties & Beasts volunteer for only a couple of years, but her impact has been enormous! Whether it's lending a helping hand at events, or simply being a beacon of positivity, your contributions have made a significant difference in so many animals and humans alike.

What areas do you volunteer in?

I volunteer at events, event planning, and fostering.

What is your favorite volunteer memory or experience?

Favorite volunteer memory or experience. Ohhh, so many to choose from. I would say that my favorite (which I really call a blessing) volunteer experience as a foster mom was taking care of Ritchie. While we only had him for 3 days, because he crossed the rainbow bridge, he was able to know love and feel safe for the only time in his very short life. And I was lucky enough to be part of that. 

What do you enjoy about volunteering?

I love volunteering for Beauties for so many reasons. The obvious one is that I get to help the dogs and get TONS of dog and puppy kisses. Another reason is that there are so many opportunities for helping out at different events that suit my personality. I can choose what event I want to help at, and even how long I'm able to help out that day. I've only been fostering for about 7 months now, which is so rewarding. While I can't foster every dog (although I wish I could) I'm able to choose dogs that fit well into my crew at home and that I know my husband and I can provide what is needed to ready each dog for adoption. There's so much flexibility for the volunteers, which makes it so easy to pick where I can help.

What's something you want the public to know about volunteering for Beauties and Beasts?

Volunteering is extremely rewarding. Giving the gift of time is easy because we all have it. I've made many new friends through volunteering too.

What do you do when you aren’t volunteering for Beauties and Beasts?

I enjoy spending time with friends, playing Bingo at Chicken and Pickle with my hubby, painting, doing crafts and most recently - growing my vegetable and fruit garden.
