Meet Gunner: A Journey of Resilience and Love! 

Gunner's story is one of hope and transformation. Once found on death row at a shelter, he was living outside on a log chain without food or water. His initial fearful reactions led to misunderstandings about his behavior, nearly costing him his life. But thanks to the dedicated efforts of Amy and Randi, Gunner was given a second chance, and he has come a long way since then.

While Gunner is reactive to dogs when on a leash or behind a barrier, with the right introductions and time, he has proven to be friendly with both dogs and cats. His best friend, Randi, is committed to ensuring he finds the perfect home match.

At heart, Gunner is a sweet and lovable goober who adores belly rubs and loves to flop down at your feet for attention. He’s a playful spirit who enjoys destroying his toys and will greet all visitors with enthusiasm. He especially loves men and is known to curl up with his human friends, often under a cozy blanket or sweater.

Gunner has a gentle disposition and is great with kids, having lived in a home with children from newborns to 10 years old. He relishes car rides, even if they make him a bit nervous, and absolutely loves hanging outside—his favorite pastime! And you can always count on him to greet you with a big, adorable smile and some fun zoomies.

However, Gunner does have some baggage from his past as a chain dog. He is not suited for walks or dog parks, as he becomes anxious when he sees other dogs outside of his leash barrier. Gunner requires a 6-foot privacy fence and thrives on strong leadership and structure. He has learned several commands during his time with dedicated volunteers who have spent countless hours with him.
