UPDATE 10/30/2020 - Chulo has been sweet and calm with the volunteers and gets really excited to go on his daily walks! He is a very handsome healthy guy that does not deserve the label he was given and it is heartbreaking. Please give him the opportunity to show you the real dog that he is and give him the home he was meant to have. Chulo will require a 6' fence in his adopter's home.
HISTORY - https://fb.watch/1uoYlZsPKS/
Chulo spent 2 months in the Wichita Animal Shelter. We inquired about the incident that led to his incarceration at the city shelter. Apparently he has gotten loose a few times and this time he scratched an older woman on the leg that led to him being impounded and deemed a potentially dangerous dog. His owner was unable to comply with the pen requirements due to landlord issues and could not reclaim . Sadly this is why Chulo has been kept locked up since August. We were never made aware of his situation until the emergency email October 12th when we were contacted that there was an injury to his tail that had just occurred and that he was aggressive with staff and would require a catch pole to remove from the kennel for vet care. We were sent a video from rescue coordinator and we did NOT see a dog that was described as aggressive with staff that couldn't be removed from a kennel. We saw a sweet boy that was happy to follow commands for a kind word or treat. As a result we were able to go rescue this boy and get the tail issue checked out. There were no issues with leashing him up. He was not reactive to any of the other dogs, people or animal control officers he passed by and sweet as could be with the vet staff too. The Dr examined the tail which did not bother him at all and determined that this was probably just an old injury that had healed a long time ago…..
Since Chulo was Potential Deamed Dangerous (PDD) he will need to be fostered or adopted outside city limits.
